The Lent term games began with us in the top Kent U14s league and with strong wins against Sevenoaks and Canterbury early on. The Canterbury coaches complemented our team on strong defensive organisation, being the first time since U10’s they hadn’t scored a try in a competitive fixture. A bruising 24-5 loss to perennial winners Sidcup was rounded off with a resounding bonus points away win at Blackheath leaving the team top with a 2nd place league finish, a great reward for the team’s step up against much more fierce competition. A strong list of friendlies and dev matches thanks to Mike Count has allowed a strong rotation of a 30+ player pool, giving plenty of game time for all and room to experiment with different positions and combinations. Special thanks to players and parents who have encouraged some players who had either : drifted away from rugby; not played the sport before; or were playing league at Brixton Bulls…to come to train and play with us this season. The new players have enriched the team beyond measure from both a social and sporting perspective!
