Old Alleynians RFC

With pre-season well underway, we want to spotlight the coaching group that will support the senior section of the club for Season 22/23 and beyond.

The senior section will be led by James Knox. A former club captain at Old Alleynians, James also played for Richmond and Maidenhead, and previously operated as the Defence Coach at OAs before succeeding Tom Chambers as Head Coach.

James will be supported in coaching duties by the following group:

Laurence Boyle will lead Skills Coaching. A former Oxford University blue, Laurence played for Moseley, Leicester and Harlequins as a centre. He was also capped for England and Ireland at various levels.

Tim Connellan will lead Set Plays coaching. Tim played for numerous teams in South Africa including the University of Cape Town, Western Province U20, South African Defence Force Rugby, and Villagers, as well as Watsonians in Edinburgh.

Charlie Thompson will lead Set-Piece Coaching. Charlie has recently stepped down as the OAs club captain after amassing 137 caps for the 1^st XV at hooker.

The squad is assisted by Team Managers Alex Smiddy and Steve Jeal, both former OAs players, and former player and Director of Rugby – Senior Section, Tom Chambers who acts as liaison between the Senior Section and other areas of the club.
