As a result of the fundraising to date, sponsorship, Alleyn Club donations and other supporters financial gifts the OARFC Committee concluded that we were in a position to improve pitch three, also referred to as the training pitch, on the other side of the driveway to the clubhouse.
By spending money now on pitch three, provided we keep up the necessary annual maintenance works, this work will improve the pitch for the current and next generation of players at the Club. We feel this will benefit all players at the Club.
These works whenever they are completed will mean the pitch cannot be used for a season. We appreciate this causes short term disruption. In the long term we are confident we will have a better facility.
We are purchasing portable rechargeable floodlights to facilitate seniors training and believe that this will have benefits for all members. These should be in place in the next couple of weeks.
We would like to formally thank everyone that helped on the recent workday and have received several positive comments on the repainted clubhouse cladding, as well as the other works to prepare our grounds and facilities for the season. In fact, we estimate that we had around 1,000 members and spectators enjoying the grounds this weekend, with all concerned adapting to our necessary COVID-19 protocols.
