The club was represented at the Irwin Mitchell Mentoring Experience at Twickenham this weekend by Spike Kenny along with Harlan Hines (U16s) & Poppy Latimer (U18s Girls), two players who came to the club via our Schools Community Outreach Programme "Give it a try!”. There were two Q&As for coaches, the first with Simon Middleton, head coach of the Red Roses and the second with Dylan Hartley & Jess Breach. Both were great forums for discussion and the development of mentoring in the game. While the coaches discussed mentoring our players had the opportunity to play on the hallowed turf, with a training session before lunch and a touch tournament after lunch. Both Poppy & Harlan represented the club fantastically well (and both were interviewed). Additionally Harlan was judged to be the most impactful male player on the day and was presented with an England signed shirt by Dylan Hartley.

Spike is currently completing the Irwin Mitchell Mentoring Course with the RFU (and has been asked to be part of the Kent RFU Mentoring Team) and will be leading the mentoring programme at Old Alleynians. If you are interested in becoming a mentor please contact him: spikekenny@alleynian.org
